Già si sapeva della collaborazione di David Sitek dei "TV On The Radio" ma durante il festival di Berlino (non a caso) si è diffusa la notiziona che nell'imminente primo disco di Scarlett, quello di cover Tom Waits, ci sarà anche Mr. David Bowie!! In perfetto stile "Duca Bianco" il suo commento secondo il quale non avrebbe fatto altro che “cantare qualche oooh e aaah su un paio di pezzi”. I brani in questione dovrebbero essere “Falling down” (che non è quella dei Duran Duran) e “Fannin’ Street", e ci sono altre dichiarazione del Duca un po' più concilianti come quella sulle "performance di Scarlett, mistiche e doppiamente cool”. Non ci resta che aspettare maggio, mese nel quale l'album dovrebbe infine uscire dopo un anno di gossip... e sperare in qualche esibiizione live di Scarlett, magari in duetto con Mr.Bowie.

Detto ciò e mi riferisco alla foto, ecco un brano di un'intervista al cantante: Scarlett non lo eccita? Vabbè... 
Question: I'm sure you know Scarlett Johannson is recording an album of your songs?
Tom Waits: Well no, I read about it in the paper.
Question: No one consulted you beforehand?
Tom Waits: No, no. But, you know, more power to her.
Question: Are you excited to hear it?
Tom Waits: I don't know if I'm excited to hear it, but I'm curious. People make songs so that somebody else will hear them and want to do them. I guess it's an indication that the songs aren't so ultra-personal that they can't possibly be interpreted by anyone else. I've seen her in movies. I don't know what she's going to do with the tunes. When you get a hold of somebody else's song, you make it your own. That's all you can do. And that usually requires a certain amount of tailoring. Cut the sleeves off, lay some buttons. Everybody does something different to a song, that's the tradition.

Dopo diverse esibizioni estive assieme ai Jesus and Mary Chain testimoniate da questo video qui sopra ora Scarlett sta per esordire con un vero cd in uscita il prossimo 3 ottobre dal titolo: Scarlett sings Tom Waits. Il disco è prodotto da Dave Sitek dei Tv On The Radio, e contiene ben 13 cover del noto cantautore: presto nuove news!
